NSF Campus Cyberinfrastructure PI Workshop September 19 – 21, 2022 Minneapolis, MN PRE-WORKSHOP EVENTS The following pre-workshop events will run concurrently on Monday, September 19th, 2022, between 1:00 & 5:00 PM.
Registration Open: No fees. Use registration link below for any of these pre-workshop events.
Pre-Workshop Event One: SUBMITTING A SUCCESSFUL NSF CC* PROPOSAL This workshop is designed for CC* Planning Grant PI’s and others interested in submitting proposals in response to the National Science Foundation (NSF) Campus Cyberinfrastructure (CC*) solicitation. The NSF CC* program invests in coordinated campus-level networking improvements, innovation, integration, and engineering for science applications and distributed research projects. The Workshop will provide strategies for a successful CC* submission. The workshop will begin by providing background on the overall context of the solicitation with respect to campus, regional and national cyberinfrastructure strategies. Next, major components from previous solicitations will be reviewed and included information on what has been funded in the past and how these projects may fit into cyberinfrastructure strategies. Developing an overall campus or regional cyberinfrastructure strategy which includes funding from the CC* program will be discussed as well. The workshop focus will then shift to provide information and strategies targeted at developing and submitting a successful CC* proposal. As the primary motivation for submitting a proposal, significant time will be spent on identifying compelling science-driven research and education application drivers. Information will include strategies for engaging and community with different campus or regional stakeholder groups including campus/regional management, researchers and educators, campus IT and internal and external broad impact communities. Supplemental documents, such as the Campus Cyberinfrastructure Plan, Facilities Document and Data Management plans, will be reviewed including advice on what documents can be prepared in anticipation of the next solicitation. Finally, elements of a successful proposal as well as proposal submission strategy will be discussed. While primarily aimed at those with a current CC* Planning Grant, we encourage anyone interested in submitting a CC* grant or developing a campus or regional cyberinfrastructure strategy that includes funding from the NSF CC* program to attend.
