Fall Quilt Face to Face Meeting

The Quilt recently held its member meeting in Durham, North Carolina. Participants joined together for presentations from members and vendors. Status reports were delivered, including a presentation on the funding opportunities with NSF as well as Steve Cotter’s presentation on Emergency Response – The Katrina Experience. A presentation from Dale Smith provided an overview of the Network Start-Up Resource Center, its past and current projects and involvement opportunities. There was also an update provided by Doug Van Houweling and Tom West on the I2/NLR merger activity. Gary Augustson gave an overview of recent BPG updates on CALEA and Telecom Reform and their impacts on the education and research networks. This was a working meeting for quilt participants who focused also on administrative and organizational issues as well as presented project and committee updates.
